here and with it, the 127 Corridor Yard Sale. Stretching from
Covington, Ky., 400 miles south to Gadsden, Ala., it is the
longest yard sale in the world and will descend upon Owen
County Aug. 3-6.
Cull
honored for contributions in medicine to community
Dr. O.A. Cull, a familiar
— and perhaps the oldest — face in Owen County’s
medical community, was honored Friday with the Dan Martin
Award for Lifetime Contribution to Rural Health in Kentucky.
The award is given to an individual who has provided many
years of service to rural Kentuckians.

under heat alert through Thursday

A heat alert issued
by Three Rivers District Health Department is extended
through Thursday for Owen, Carroll, Gallatin and Pendleton
counties. The alert was set to expire Monday, but
with a heat wave sweeping the nation, high temperatures
and humidity are expected to push the heat indices
into the 100-104 degree range.
