Visits
Europe

— Photo submitted
Katie Perkins spent three weeks of her summer traveling around
Europe with the People to People Ambassador Program. Begun in
1956 by President Dwight D. Eisenhower, People to People is based
on the ideal that ordinary people who are able to communicate
directly can make a difference where government cannot. During
her trip, Perkins traveled to Italy, France and Malta —
an island nation approximately twice the size of Washington, D.C.,
situated south of Sicily in the Mediterranean Sea. She said she
enjoyed immersing herself in a different culture and seeing the
differences between her own country and those she visited. Some
of the most memorable sites Perkins visited during her three weeks
abroad were the Colosseum, Pompeii, the Eiffel Tower and the Sistine
Chapel.
