Watkins, 80
Lois W. Watkins, 80,
of Crestwood, passed away July 25, 2006, at Norton Suburban Hospital
in Louisville. She was retired from Central State Hospital and
a member of Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church.
Watkins is preceded in death by her husband, George L. Watkins;
parents, Elmer and Kate Wainscott; and a sister, Mildred Smith.
She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Phyllis and
Steve Kidwell, Linda and Jerry Neuner, Sandy and Jay Reinart,
Barbara and Kevin O’Donnell and Cheryl and Mark Hancock;
sons and daughters-in-law, David and Bobbie Watkins and Danny
and Janet Watkins; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two
step-great-grandchildren; a brother, Henry Wainscott; and sisters,
Elizabeth Dunavent and Jessie O’Leary.
Funeral services were held July 27 at Mt. Tabor United Methodist
Church with the Rev. John Kennedy officiating. Burial was at Pleasureville
Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Robert Hancock, Paul Grisham, Dale Perry, Richard
Grimes, Matthew Lippy, Brian Schutte and Brandon Hancock. Honorary
pallbearers were Alonzo Lee Brown and Lorne Brown.

Kemper, 86
Bill Kemper, 86, of
Burkesville, formerly of Carrolton, Kentucky, died June 27, 2006
at the Commonwealth Regional Hospital in Bowling Green.
He was born on Feb. 18, 1920 in Owenton to Henry and Roxie Lena
Leigon Kemper. He was a successful entrepreneur, having created
many successful business ventures and was a successful land developer.
He was of the Baptist faith and had attended Burkesville Baptist
Church and was a Master Mason and member of the Dallasburg Lodge
at Wheatley in Owen County.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Janie Dunn
Kemper; his brothers, Clyde, Howard and Lewis; and sisters, Frances
and Fannie B.
Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Kemper; daughter, Sallie Jessica
of Burkesville; sons and daughters-in-law, Paul and Teresa Kemper
of Ghent, David and Debbie Kemper of Ghent, Jess Maiden of Lexington;
father-in-law, Jerry Stephens of Greenup County; mother-in-law,
Gloria Jean Stephens of Burkesville; brother-in-law, Charles Stephens
of Hillsboro, N.C,; sisters-in-law, Kellie Stephens Calloway of
Munfordville, Deanna Stephens of Munfordville; and grandchildren,
Josh and Sarah, Annie, Zoe and Stephanie.
Services were held July 2, 2006 at the Burkesville Baptist Church
with Bro. Raymond Castillo and Bro. William Traylor officiating.
Special music was provided by Libby Mullinix and special singing
was provided by Dr. Joy and Bro. William Traylor. Masonic services
were conducted by Cumberland Lodge #413 F & A.M.
Burial was in the Branham Grove Cemetery.
Pallbearers were members of Cumberland Lodge #413 F. & A.M.
and Kemper family members.
Honorary pallbearers were David Kemper, Paul Kemper, Jess Maiden
and Jerry Stephens.
Norris-New Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Johnson, 75
Ervin Johnson, 75, of
Lusby’s Mill, died July 29, 2006, at the University of Kentucky
Medical Center in Lexington. He was a retired factory worker for
Scholl’s Shoe Co. in Owenton and a farmer.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Ford Johnson; four daughters,
Linda Nelson of California, Thelma Sue Scott of Lusby’s
Mill, Jeanetta Stamper of Corinth and Sandy Sloma of Owenton;
two sons, Johnny McLendon of Norwood, Ohio, and Samuel D. Johnson
of Lusby’s Mill; seven sisters, Susie Newton of Newport,
Nancy Napier of Falmouth, Mary Marksberry of Williamstown, Lois
Parr of Corinth, Betty Sparrow of Owenton, Thelma Williamson of
Georgetown and Ima Ulm of Florence; a brother, Ed Johnson of Owen
County; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.He was
preceded in death by his parents, Samuel D. Johnson and Josephine
Caudill Johnson; two brothers, Elbert and James Johnson; and two
sisters, Rosie Tucker and Martha Beckett.
Funeral services were held Aug. 1 at McDaniel Funeral Home in
Corinth. Burial was in Mussel Shoals Cemetery. Memorial contributions

Andrew
Bryan, 82
Andrew Michael Bryan,
82, of Carrollton, passed away July 21, 2006, at Green Valley
Health and Rehab Center in Carrollton.
Born Nov. 2, 1923, in Manville, N.J., Bryan was the son of the
late George and Catherine Wachuk Bryan.
He was a retired insurance agent and a member of Sacred Heart
Catholic Church in Lantana, Fla. He was a past member and governor
in the Kiwanis International and served in the United States Navy
from 1942 to 1946.
Bryan is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Patricia M. and
Carl Crawford of Worthville; a son, Andrew Bryan Jr. of Cape Coral,
Fla.; three grandchildren, Michael Crawford, and Lesley and Michelle
Bryan; loving family in New Jersey, New York and Florida; and
friends around the world.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and wife, Marie Bryan.
A funeral service was held July 24 at Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral
Home. Bryan’s ashes will be released at sea. Memorial contributions
may be made to Holy Family Ministry, 615 S. Copper St., Deming,
N.M., 88030.
Stephen
Vannarsdall, 24
Stephen Douglas Vannarsdall,
24, of Owenton, died July 27, 2006, at the University of Kentucky
Chandler Medical Center in Lexington.
Born Sept. 21, 1981, in Frankfort, he was a heavy equipment operator
and a member of Beechwood Assembly of God.
Surviving are his parents, Eugene “Bugs” Vannarsdall
of Owenton and Wilma Rose Christopher of Frankfort; a paternal
grandmother, Beulah Vannarsdall of Owenton; a brother, Ryan Vannarsdall
of Owenton; and an aunt, Jaynie Vannarsdall of Owenton. He was
preceded in death by a paternal grandfather, Frank Vannarsdall
and maternal grandparents Howard and Viola Rose.
Funeral services were July 31 at Beechwood Assembly of God Church
with the Revs. Stephen Lewis and Curt Smith officiating. Burial
was in Owenton Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family c/o McDonald
& New Funeral Homes for funeral expenses or to Beechwood Assembly
