Whisman Peed, 72
Marcella Whisman Peed,
72, died June 20, 2006. She grew up in Owen County, the daughter
of the late Cord and Elizabeth Whisman. She served as troop leader
for Brownies, Juniors and Cadets in the Girl Scouts and as a Hospice
volunteer. While living in Columbus, Ohio, the Arthritis Foundation
recognized her service by naming her “Volunteer of the Year.”
She was an active member and volunteer at Christ by the Sea United
Methodist Church, the IRMH Auxiliary, the Vero Beach Country Club
and the Vero Beach Yacht Club in California.
She is survived by her husband, Gus; a daughter and son-in-law,
Mary Jo and Kevin Wood of Atlanta, Ga.; a son, Paul, of Vero Beach,
Calif.; sisters Dorothy Johnson of Owenton and Ola Lee Franks
of Auburndale, Fla.; a brother Dale Whisman of Frankfort; and
grandchildren Lauren, Gus and Joe.
A memorial service was held June 30 at Christ by the Sea in Vero
Beach, Calif.
