MBC Relay team selling Tony’s Bama BBQ
The Monterey Baptist Church Relay for Life team is selling Tony’s Bama BBQ for the Memorial Day weekend. Family packs are $10 and can be pre-ordered by calling Patti at 514-3478. Order today for delivery on Friday.
Movie afternoon at the library planned
The Owen County Public Library is inviting teenagers to a free movie at 3:30 p.m. Thursday. The library will be show “Dreamer” which is rated PG. Popcorn and drinks will be served. Registration is required. Call 484-3450 to register.
Farmers’ Market opens Friday
The fourth season of the Owen County Farmers’ Market will begin a 11 a.m. Friday on the courthouse square. The market will be held each Friday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Lunch should be available most weeks. Vegetable vendors from around the area are also expected to be on hand with a large supply of in-season items.
Cookout for a Cure set for Friday
The annual Cookout for a Cure, sponsored by Owen County Judge-Executive Billy O’Banion, will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the courthouse. This will also be the opening day of the Farmers’ Market, which is being moved back to the courthouse lawn this season. All proceeds from the cookout will go to Relay for Life.
Memorial Day ceremony planned
Boy Scout Troop 891, with the help of the Owen County community, will be conducting a flag retirement ceremony., and will also recognize all who have served in the U.S. military, on Memorial Day, May 29. The community is invited to participate. Please submit the name and contact information for veterans and active duty military by today. If you have any U.S. flags that need to be respectfully retired, please bring them to the ceremony. Letters of support and children's drawings will be collected to be sent to military personnel serving away from home.
