Sitting on top of the district standings

The Owen County High School softball team beat Carroll County 7-3 on Thursday to improve to 2-0 in district. The Lady Rebels have outscored district opponents 22-5 in two games. Carroll County is 1-1 in district, Gallatin County is 0-2 and Henry County has yet to play a district game. In the above left photo, junior catcher Sheila Wilson slides in safely under the tag to score a run in the fifth inning. Wilson hit an RBI triple, then came around to score when the throw to the infield was misplayed. Wilson also had an RBI single in the third inning. Middle, senior shortstop Krista Thomas steals second base in the third inning. Thomas reached base after an RBI single to score Lauren Lowe. Thomas later added an RBI single in the sixth inning. Right, sophomore center fielder Kendall Cochran catches a fly ball. Also for the Lady Rebels Brooke McDonald had an RBI triple to score Kristen Haines, Emily Trammel had a triple and Sagan Wainscott knocked home a run on a sacrifice bunt. Lauren Wooten threw the complete game to earn the victory.
