Ruth Banta Rose, 86,
of Owenton, died April 12, 2006, at New Horizons Medical Center.
Born Aug. 4, 1919, in Nicholas County and raised in Bourbon County,
she was the daughter of the late James Lot and Della Hickey Banta
Sr. She was a retired nurses aide from St. Joseph Hospital in
Lexington and a member of St. Edwards Catholic Church in Owenton,
the Clarksville, Ind., VFW and a charter member of the Owen County
Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, where she was a past
Worthy Matron.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Phyllis and Eli
Wolfinbarger of Owenton; a brother and daughter-in-law, James
L. and Mac Banta of Lexington; three step-sons, Jackie G. Rose
of Corinth, Gary A. Rose of Asheville, N.C., and Danny G. Rose
of Albuquerque, N.M.; a step-daughter, Rosemary R. Wainscott of
Pawley’s Island, S.C.; a grandson, Jason Day; 13 step-grandchildren;
four nieces; and three nephews. She was preceded in death by her
husband, James A. Rose; a brother, Joseph F. Banta; and a sister,
Mary Frances Conlin.
Funeral Services were April 15 at McDonald & New Funeral Homes
with Bros. Jesse Bourne and David Wotier officiating. Burial was
in Calvary Cemetery in Lexington.

Billie M. Godby Dungan, 61, of Owenton,
formerly of Covington, died April 12, 2006, at her home. She was
a retired merchandise handler for the GAP Clothing Co. in Florence
and a member of Grant County Bingo Club.
She is survived by a daughter, Yvonne M. Morrow of Owenton; a
son, David M. Dungan of Covington; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren;
and a sister, Lourine Girgler of Somerset. She was preceded in
death by her husband, Bobby R. Dungan.
Funeral services were held April 17 at Allison & Rose Funeral
Home in Covington. Burial was in Highland Cemetery Mausoleum in
Ft. Mitchell. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of

Sue Bohart, 41
Barbara Sue Bohart, 41, of Owenton,
died April 8 at her residence. She was a homemaker.
She is survived by her husband, William E. Bohart; three sons,
Willie Bohart, Andrew Henry James Bohart and Geoffrey Allen Bohart,
all of Owenton; her mother, Audrey Riley of Owenton; her father;
Theo Riley of Covington; two sisters, Donna Adkins of Owenton
and Kathy Gruber of Newport; and three brothers, Kenny Hammons
of Covington, David Riley of Owenton and Michael Riley of Newport.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Carol Hammons, and a brother,
James E. Riley.
Funeral services were held April 13 at McDaniel Funeral Home in
Corinth. Burial was in Robinson Cemetery in Harrison County. Memorial

Robert
“Bobby” Noel, 80
Robert “Bobby” Noel, 80,
died March 23, 2006, at Mederia Beach, Fla. He was born in Monterey,
the son of Mary and Forest Noel and graduated from Owen County
High School. He received a degree in aeronautical engineering
from Georgia Tech University. He worked in California for many
years.
He is survived by several cousins including Sue Manter of Jacksonville,
Fla., Norma Hill of Destin, Fla., Terry Masters of Hebron, Thomas
Granit of Villa Hills and Ruth Allnutt, formerly of Owenton and
now of Lexington.
He was buried beside his mother and father in California.

Charles William “Bill”
Lewis, 82, died April 10, 2006, at Deaconess Hospital. He was
formerly of Sparta.
He is survived by his wife, Margie Lafferty Lewis; a daughter
and son-in-law, Sherry and Bill Smith; a granddaughter and her
husband, Shanna and Adrian Durbin; two sisters and brothers-in-law,
Sue and James Stewart of Cincinnati and Virginia and Billy Davis
of New Liberty; a brother-in-law, Printy Lafferty of Sparta; and
nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death
by a brother, H.J. Lewis.

B. Canty, 92
Erma B. Canty, 92, of
Crestwood, died April 14, 2006, in Louisville. She was born May
24, 1913, in Anderson County, the daughter of the late Chester
B. Watson and Willie B. Addie. She was a homemaker and member
of Indian Fork Baptist Church in Bagdad.
She is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Billy C. and
Mary Canty and Bobby Gayle Canty, all of Crestwood; a daughter,
Shirley Ann Canty of Crestwood; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren;
four sisters, Sue Parson of Owen County, Jeannete Dunavan of Louisville,
Daisy Perry of Anderson County and Joanne LeCompte of Shelbyville;
and two brothers, Kenneth Watson of Colorado and Johnny Watson
of Eminence.
Funeral services were held April 17 at Arch L. Heady Radcliffe
Funeral Home with the Rev. Ron Towles of Hillcrest Baptist Church
officiating. Burial was in Valley of Rest Cemetery.

Catherine Sharon Toole, 91
Anna Catherine Sharon
Toole, 91, of Owenton, died April 16, 2006, at Homestead Nursing
Center in Lexington following a long illness.
She was born Oct. 5, 1914, in Owen County, the daughter of the
late Oscar and Virgie Hudson Sharon of Beechwood. She was a member
of Richland Baptist Church and Rebekah Lodge of Owenton and attended
Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church. She worked at Georgetown Electric
Parts and Taylor Tot in Frankfort before retiring.
She was widowed at the age of 36 and raised eight children. She
is survived by daughters and sons-in-law Alice and Gene Rose,
Judy and Danny Jacobs, all of Owenton, Mary and Jim Cheek of Somerset
and Jackie and Walter Sageser of Lexington; sons and daughter-in-law
Ralph and Patsy Toole and Thomas Toole all of Owenton; a son-in-law,
Edward Joseph of Cleveland; a sister, Harriet Smith of Indiana;
brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Walter and Adelle Toole of
Parker, Ind., and Garland and Addie Sue Toole of Florence; sisters-in-law
JoAnn Toole of Burlington and Ora Sharon of Owenton; and many
nieces and nephews. She was a loving grandmother to 19 grandchildren,
26 great grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Paul; daughter
Virginia; son James Lewis; daughter-in-law Doris; and two brothers,
James Sharon and William Penn Sharon.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. April 19 at McDonald &
New Funeral Homes, Main Street, with Bro. David Wotier officiating.
Burial will be in Owenton Cemetery.

Mae Imogene Callaghan,
68, of Pleasant Home, died April 13, 2006, at her residence.
Born April 2, 1938, in Casey County, she was the daughter of Ora
Isabelle Weir McDonald and the late Avery McDonald. She was a
homemaker, recipient of the 1986 Mother of the Year award and
a member of Lockport Church of Christ.
She is survived by her mother; her husband, George Callaghan;
three sons and a daughter-in-law, George Callaghan Jr., Michael
and Tammy Callaghan and Christopher Callaghan, all of Pleasant
Home; four brothers and sisters-in-law, J.C and Anna McDonald,
Billy and Linda McDonald, David and Lesa McDonald, all of Russell
Springs, and Dennis and Gwen McDonald of Windsor; four sisters
and a brother-in-law, Roxie MacDonald and Faye Thomas both of
Windsor, Sandra and Charlie Kieser of Pennsylvania and Ann Chrusciel
of Paris; five grandchildren, Bryan, Kara, Michael Jr. and wife
Arlene, Kristin and Elaina Jo Callaghan, all of Pleasant Home;
and a great-grandchild, Avery Callaghan. She was preceded in death
by a sister, Ruby Morris.
Funeral Sservices were April 18 with Bro. Billy Stapleton officiating.
Burial was in Owenton Cemetery.
