Baseball
team splits first two games

Trey Lenear
homered in the opener
The Owen
County High School baseball team opened the season last week
with two games, going 1-1 during that span. In the home opener
on March 27, the Rebels struggled against district opponent
Gallatin County, losing 10-8.
The Rebels opened a 2-0 lead after one inning, but allowed Gallatin
County to score five runs in the third inning, three more in
the fifth and two in the sixth to take a 10-4 lead going into
the final inning.
Owen County rallied for four runs in the seventh inning, but
came up short in its bid to win the game.
Danny O’Toole and Michael Ogden walked, then a single
by Cameron Logan and a Gallatin County error cut the lead to
10-6 with two outs.
Trey Lenear followed with a 2-run homer, but Gallatin County
ended the game by inducing a ground out.
Lenear had three hits and three RBIs.
Logan added three hits and scored two runs, while Jared Perkins
was 2-for-5 with an RBI.
Aaron Sutherland and Lee Drew Stivers each had one RBI and Josh
Juett stole two bases.

The Rebels headed to the road Thursday to play Williamstown,
winning 5-2.
Owen County next competes on Tuesday at the Shelby Tournament.
The Rebels then play at 5 p.m. on April 10 at Grant County and
return home on April 11 at 5 p.m. to face Williamstown.
