MBC to host Easter Extravaganza

What happens when you mix 1,000 Easter eggs, hundreds of kids and their parents, carnival games, free food and a visit from the Easter Bunny? It is the Easter Extravaganza at Monterey Baptist Church.
The church will host the Easter event trom 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 15 on the MBC campus in Monterey.
The event is geared toward families with children through fifth grade and will include an Easter egg hunt, carnival games, an inflatable moon bounce, pictures with the Easter bunny and free food. The only charge for the event will be $5 for the Easter Bunny photos. The photo project is a fundraiser for the church’s Relay for Life team.
“This is a great opportunity for parents and their children to enjoy the day together,” said Pastor Tony Watkins. “We felt this was a great way to kick off a season of renewal that begins with the celebration of Christ’s resurrection on Easter morning.”
Families are encouraged to arrive at the church early for all the activities that are planned. The Easter egg hunt will take place at 12:30 p.m. Children will be divided into age groups and each age group will have its own egg hunt. Approximately 1,000 filled Easter eggs will be hidden on the church property. Several prize eggs will also be included, and children who find them will receive special prizes.
The Easter Extravaganza is just the beginning of spring activities at Monterey Baptist Church.
On Easter Sunday morning, Watkins will begin a six-week series on “Seeking God’s Vision.” The first sermon will focus on “Embracing the Vision: Living Life With Purpose.” Other sermon topics include: “Why You Need a Church Family;” “What God Wants Us to Remember;” Enabling the Vision: Giving Yourself;” and “How to Get Ready to Be Used by God.”
In addition, the church will begin two discussion groups surrounding the movie and the book “The DaVinci Code.” The discussion will center on what the Bible says about the claims made in Dan Brown’s fiction novel and the coming movie.
A third group will go through Rick Warren’s “Forty Days of Purpose” study, and a fourth group, for young adult women, is also starting.
All groups are open to the public. If you’d like to participate in any of them, please contact the church office at 484-2555. For more information about Monterey Baptist Church, see the Web site at www.monterey-baptist.org.
The church is located on High Street in Monterey. From north of Monterey, take Hwy. 127 south from Owenton; turn right onto Hwy. 355 and then take another left at the first road; turn right onto Clyde Street and then left onto High Street. The church will be on the left. From south of Monterey, take Hwy. 127 north from Frankfort. Turn left onto Hwy. 3523. There’s a Monterey Baptist Church sign at the corner.
