Smith Thomas, 91

Smith Edward Thomas, 91, formerly of Sparta, died March 8, 2006, at Thompson Hood Veteran’s Center in Wilmore.
Born Oct. 5, 1914, in Owen County, he was the son of the late Ira and Molly Smith Thomas. He was a farmer, Kentucky Colonel and a member of Sparta Church of Christ.
He is survived by a son, Jimmie Thomas of Sparta; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Thomas.
Funeral services were held March 11 at McDonald & New Funeral Homes with Bro. Denny French officiating. Burial was in Owenton Cemetery.

Wilbur Woodyard, 90

Wilbur “Bo” Woodyard, 90, died March 8, 2006, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Williamstown. He was born Nov. 9, 1915, in Williamstown, son of the late Arthur and Berta Powel Woodyard. He was a carpenter, a Sunday school teacher, a retired elder of Antioch Church of Christ and an avid fiddle player and musician.
He is survived by his wife, Goldie Dean Sargent Woodyard; a son, Stanley Woodyard of Williamstown; a daughter, Betty Sue Chesler of McHenry, Ill.; seven grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held March 11 at Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home in Williamstown with the Revs. Gene Kearns and Don Johnson officiating. Private graveside services were held at the Woodyard family cemetery on Cynthiana Road in Williamstown.

Judy Cole, 56

Judy Kay Cole, 56, of Williamstown, died March 10, 2006, at her residence. She was born April 24, 1949, in Rockcastle County, daughter of the late William Homer Singleton and Lyda Vivian Bullock. She was a homemaker, a former hotel housekeeper and a member of Williamstown Church of God.
She is survived by her husband, Larry A. Cole of Williamstown; a daughter, Regina Vivian Krzeminski of Dry Ridge; a son, Anthony W.C. Marston Jr. of Reading, Ohio; four grandchildren; two brothers, William C. Dwight Singleton of Owenton and Denver H. Singleton of McKee; and four sisters, Iris Parker of Mt. Vernon, Anna Lee Pennington of Norfolk, Va., Ruby Helen Brown of Olean, N.Y., and Carolyn F. Clifford of Owenton. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Cynthia K. Cole; and two brothers, Douglas E. Singleton and Ernest Humphrey Singleton.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. March 15 at Williamstown Church of God with the Rev. Johnny Hoskins officiating. Burial will be in Williamstown Cemetery.

Carroll Browning, 65

Carroll Loyd Browning, 65, died March 9, 2006, at Gallatin Health Care Center. He was the son of the late Readus and Juanita Burden and was a mechanic.
He is survived his companion of 27 years, Evelena Raisor; one son, Carol Loyd Browning Jr.; two daughters, Melissa and Tina Ford; a brother, Bobby Browning; two sisters, Rhonda Strisman and Patricia Simpson; and two grandchildren.
Funeral Services were held March 13 at Garnett-New-McDonald Funeral Home. Burial was in Paint Lick Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the funeral home in care of the family.


Billy Bush, 75

Billy Farris Bush, 75, of Franklin County, died March 8, 2006, at his home. He was a native of Owen County and was retired from Jim Beam Distillers. He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War and a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church of Pleasant Home.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Frances Bell Bush; a daughter, Cecilia Bush Mitchell of Frankfort; a brother, Wallace Bush of Owenton; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Noel Bush and Mary Della Wallace Bush; a stepmother, Rebecca Bush; a sister, Annelle Bush Perkins; and brothers, Harry Bentley Bush, Charles Elmore Bush and Howard Wainscott.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. March 25, 2006, at First Christian Church of Owenton.


Letha York, 90

Letha Blanche York, 90, of Corinth, died March 11, 2006, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Williamstown. She was a retired production worker for Georgetown Cable, Philips Plastics and Electric Autolite in Cincinnati. She was a member of Canby Tabernacle Church in Corinth which she co-founded along with her husband.
She is survived by a daughter, Norma Hammond of Corinth; four sons, Ronald York of Corinth, Eugene York of Corinth, John Dennis York of Crittenden and Timothy York of Corinth; a sister, Margie Godby of Owenton; a brother, John Howard of Owenton; a brother-in-law Frank Ellis; a sister-in-law Betty Ellis; both of Chattanooga, Tenn.; 15 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. John York.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. March 15 at Canby Tabernacle Church in Corinth with the Revs. Everett Hawkins and Joshua Hammond officiating. Burial will be in Corinth Cemetery.

Alberta Hatton, 72

Alberta Louise Hatton, 72, of Worthville, died March 9, 2006, at her residence.
She was an employee of the Carroll County School District.
Survivors include sons, Clarence Breeden of Bedford, Darrell Breeden of Falmouth, Albert Hatton of Cincinnati and Harry Hatton of Carrollton; daughters, Pam Nicely of Meeker, Okla., Patty Anbino of San Jose, Calif., Carrie Carol of Cincinnati, Renee Casto of Blanchard, Okla., Denise Sharp of Versailles, Mo. and Maria Hatton-Poland of Chouteau, Okla.; 33 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Hatton Jr.
Funeral services were March 13 at Graham-Dunn Funeral Home in Carrollton. Burial was in Squiresville Cemetery.

Virgil Patrick, 68

Virgil Earl Patrick, 68, died March 10, 2006, at Clinton Memorial Hospital in Wilmington, Ohio. He was born June 1, 1937, in Harlan County, the son of the late James and Nellie Byrd Patrick. He was a welder and resident of Morrow, Ohio.
He is survived by two sons, Steve Patrick of Bethel, Ohio, and John Patrick of Fairfield, Ohio; three daughters, Denise Hood of Michigan, Susan White of Morrow, Ohio, and Genell Addison of Cincinnati; four brothers, Oscar Patrick of Colorado, Bill Patrick of Cincinnati, Randy Patrick of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Arthur Patrick of Cincinnati; two sisters, Allie Faye Jacques of Michigan and Carolyn Smallwood of London; 18 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Alcorn Patrick, and a son, Bobby Patrick.
Funeral services were held March 14 at Carlton-Lowder Funeral Home in Warsaw. Burial was in Glencoe Cemetery.
