Museum update/mannequins needed
Eleven members of the Owen County Historical Society worked most
the day at the museum on March 6 to review documents and organize
file cabinets. Great progress is being made, and the society is
working diligently toward opening the museum as soon as possible.
Included in the historical society’s collection are several
unique articles of historical Owen County clothing from the 1800s.
To display these properly, mannequins are needed. Anyone who has
mannequins they are willing to donate is asked to contact historical
society president Jeannie Williams at (502) 484-3925. Members
will continue to meet at the museum every Monday at 10 a.m. to
continue their work on the museum.
TABE testing offered locally
Workplace TABE testing is being offered to local residents free
at the Owen County Adult Education Center. The TABE test is required
by Dana and other factories in the area before employment. For
more information contact the adult learning center at 484-0405.
Class of 1996 to hold reunion planning meeting
The class of 1996 will be having a meeting to plan its 10-year
reunion at 6 p.m. today at the Owen County Extension Office. If
you would like to help, please attend the meeting. If you have

Business seminar is Thursday
The Owen County Postmasters are sponsoring a business seminar
from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday at the Owen County Public Library.
The seminar is designed to help grow businesses. Attendees will
learn how to use innovative products and services from the postal
service to help achieve business objectives. They will also get
useful tips on mailing and shipping solutions that could help
save money and discover more ways to maximize marketing dollars.There
is no charge for the seminar. Call the Owenton Post Office at

Historical Society to meet Thursday at Harborside
Harborside residents will share their memories at the regular
meeting of the Owen County Historical Society at 6:30 p.m. Thursday
at Harborside Health Care Facility in Owenton. For those who are
interested in Owen County’s colorful past, this is sure
to be a wonderful program. Members and those who are interested
in becoming members are invited to attend. Refreshments will be
provided. Regular meetings are held the third Thursday of each
month at 6:30 p.m.
Parents needed for OCHS SBDM council
The Owen County High School Site-based Decision-making Council
will hold a parent-member election from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday
in the front lobby of the high school. Any parents who will have
a student who attends OCHS during the 2006-2007 school year are
encouraged to vote. There is one parent position open on the council
for the year. Nominations will be accepted until 3 p.m. Friday.
All nominations must be submitted to the OCHS principal, Tim Hitzfield,
in a sealed envelope.
Baseball, softball teams to sponsor wrestling match
The Owen County High School baseball and softball teams will be
sponsoring MWA wrestling on Tuesday at the new high school gym.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. The first match begins at 7:30 p.m. Ringside
tickets are $10, floor seats $7, and bleacher seats $5. Tickets
are available from any baseball or softball player. If you have
any questions, call Bob Osborne or David Wainscott.
Owen County Extension district board meeting is Tuesday
The next Owen County Extension district board meeting will be
held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the extension office. The 2006-2007
budget will be discussed.
Governor’s field representative to visit Owen Tuesday
Jay Hall, Northern Kentucky region field representative for Gov.
Ernie Fletcher, will be in Owen County on Tuesday to address constituent
questions and concerns. This is an opportunity for citizens to
meet one-on-one with members of Gov. Fletcher’s staff. Those

Free advanced Microsoft PowerPoint 2003, Publisher 2003
classes offered
The Northern Kentucky University Grant County Campus will hold
a free Microsoft PowerPoint and Publisher workshop from 9 a.m.
to 3 p.m. March 24 at the Grant campus located near the Williamstown
Municipal Building. The workshop is for those familiar with personal
computers, the use of a keyboard and a mouse and Microsoft Windows
2000 or above. Being able to create PowerPoint presentations and
Publisher documents is also a prerequisite. To register, call

Free Microsoft Word I class offered
Microsoft Word I class is being offered at the Owen County Public
Library from 9 a.m. to noon March 25. This class is for adults
who already have basic computer skills. Class size is limited

Origami Meets the Price is Right at library
Jonathan Heart presents Origami (the Japanese art of paper folding)
meets the Price is Right at the Owen County Public Library for
Free Family Fun Night, March 27. The event begins at 6:30 p.m.

Family Reading Night is March 29
The March Family Reading Night will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m.
March 29 at the Owen County Primary School.The theme is March
Madness. The event will include will sports-related guest speakers.
There will be craft booths and snacks provided.
Satterwhite Golf Shamble set for April 1
The seventh annual Charlie Satterwhite Memorial Golf Shamble will
be held April 1 at Fairway Golf Course in Wheatley. A double shotgun
start will take place at 8:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. The cost is $55
per person and includes 18 holes of golf, cart, food and entertainment
following the tournament. A USGA handicap or average score will
be required. Proceeds from the tournament go to The Owen County
Senior Citizens activity fund and the Satterwhite Fund supporting
the Trust for LIfe Organ Donation Program. For more information,

Free computer classes offered
Do you know how to use a computer? Are you the only one among
your friends without e-mail? Are you clueless when your children
talk about surfing the net? Join the computer age by signing up
for free adult computer classes at your library. Call 484-3450
to learn more and to get registered for classes in Computer Basics,
Intro to the Internet, and How to Set up Free E-mail. Classes
begin at 6 p.m April 3. Space is limited and registration is required.
