Arey
Rylan Scott “Baby
Scottie” Arey, infant son of Lyndsey Arey and Joseph Young,
was stillborn Feb. 27, 2006, at UK Chandler Medical Center in
Lexington.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his maternal grandparents,
David and Debra Arey of Owenton; paternal grandparents Sherri
Young of Owenton and Larry Young of Frankfort; aunts and uncles,
Danielle and Kevin Webster, Wade Howard, Samantha Howard, Charles
Chase, Spencer Wilcoxson, Marc and Carisa Kremin, Josh and Misty
Arey, Ryan Arey, Ryan Young and Ashley and Amanda Young.
Funeral services were held March 6 at McDonald & New Funeral
Homes with Bro. Curt Smith officiating. Burial was in Owenton
Cemetery.

Hummel, 77
William Joseph Hummel,
77, of Owen County, died Feb. 26, 2006, at St. Elizabeth Hospice
Unit, Covington.
He was a retired bricklayer.
His wife, Catherine Duddey Hummel, died in 1999.
Survivors include a son, William Thomas Hummel of Independence;
a daughter, Carol Hummel Moore of Frankfort; and four grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial was March 2 at St. Anthony Church, Taylor
Mill. Burial was in St. John Cemetery, Fort Mitchell.
Memorials are suggested to St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit, 401 E.
20th St., Covington, 41014.
Edward
Rea, 83
Edward Foree Rea, 83,
died March 3, 2006, at St. Luke Hospital East in Ft. Thomas. Born
Sept. 30, 1922, in Gallatin County, he was the son of the late
Howard and Roberta Foree Rea. He was in the Army during World
War II and a former judge and sheriff in Gallatin County. He also
worked at Wal-Mart in Florence and made many friends who were
special to him.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Sutton Rea; a son and daughter-in-law
Bill and Paige Rea; two brothers, Robert Howard Rea of Warsaw
and Harry Lee Rea of Florence; a grandson and his wife, Grant
C. and Witty Rea of Lexington; and two great-grandchildren, Garrett
and Isabel Rea, both of Lexington. He was preceded in death by
a daughter, Lonna Karen Rea, and a sister, Mary Mildred Crouch.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. March 8 at Carlton-Lowder
Funeral home in Warsaw with Bro. Hardin Lowe officiating. Burial
will be in Warsaw Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Grant C. Rea,
Dennis Herndon, Dennis Rea, Bobby Rea, Ramone Pretilina, Danny
Conrad and John Ward. Honorary pallbearers will be Bubbie Hall,
Henry Snyder, Bob McCurdy, Charlie Farmer, Barry Stewart, Steve
Conrad, Jim Barnes and Jim Stock.
Donations may be made to Hospice of the Bluegrass, Gallatin County
EMS, Tadmore Lodge #108 or the church of one’s choice.
Richard
Duff, 90
Richard Duff, 90, of
Owenton, died March 4, 2006, at Harborside Healthcare Facility.
Born May 5, 1915, in Perry County, he was the son of the late
John C. and Alwilda Collins Duff. He was a retired coal miner
and a member of Cesarea Church of Christ in Scott County. He was
a member of the Church of Christ faith for more than 50 years,
30 of that as a minister. He was also a former member of the Civilian
Conservation Corp where he served as a cook.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Combs Duff; four daughters and
sons-in-law, Mable and Isaac Maggard of Owenton, Velma and Robert
Perry of Elizabethtown, Dorothy Duff of Owenton, and Linda and
Robert Beams of Palmyra, Ind.; four brothers, Charlie Duff of
Trenton, Ohio, Euell Duff of Lewis County, Hiram Duff of Ohio
and Green Duff of Middletown, Ohio; two grandchildren and a spouse,
Richard and Rhonda Beams, and Deborah Woosley; and four great-grandchildren,
Cassie and Richard Beams and Ariel and Jacob Woosley.
Funeral services were held March 7 at McDonald & New Funeral
Homes with Bro. John Hopkins officiating. Burial was in Point
Pleasant Cemetery.
