Owen 20/20
was a joint project of the alumni from the Leadership Classes
of 2002 and 2004, led by co-chairs Kim Strohmeier and Tony Watkins.
The project began last spring with the recruitment of facilitators.
Those facilitators then took a four-question survey into each
of their communities. The result was more than 2,200 completed
responses designed to develop a plan for Owen County.
The complete results, as well as recommendations for the organization
of five task forces, will be presented to the public at 6:30 p.m.
Thursday night in a community meeting at the Owen County High
School auditorium.
Dr. Lori Garkovich, who helped lead the survey process and who
compiled the results, will be on hand to present her findings
to the community.
Facilitators who participated in the initial process are encouraged
to be in attendance. They will be recognized for their work and
will be asked to take the results back into the community so that
those who participated will know the results.
Garkovich, a social scientist from the University of Kentucky,
said she’d never had a community respond in as strong a
manner as those from Owen had. She also pointed out that the responses
were well thought out and offer great insight into the wants and
needs of community residents
