Long Ridge Baptist Church’s Trent Holbrook played the banjo on top of a roof in Waveland, Miss. last month as Frankie Pryor worked to replace the covering on his home. Holbrook said he wasn’t very good with either the hammer or the banjo, but at least with the banjo he helped take the homeowner’s mind off his troubles for a short while.

O'Banion plugs Hwy. 22, gas line projects

With governor during visit to Grant County


Owen County Judge-Executive Billy O’Banion got the chance to put two Owen County projects in front of Gov. Ernie Fletcher last week, when the governor made a stop in Grant County.


County's children's fund seeking donations

Group helped nearly 300 kids last year, contributions dropping steadily

The Owen County Children’s Fund has a history of helping the area’s youth.
Relying solely on donations and the help of local churches and youth organizations, the Owen County Children’s Fund provides services in four basic areas — food, clothing, dental and medical.

Fifth-graders Madison Gamble, Courtney Waldrop, Andi Wash and Julie Spalding sang the National Anthem before the start of the Jan. 31 boys basketball game between the Rebels and Eminence at Owen County High School. The four singers worked with music teacher Angela Wells in preparation for the song.
